Un accord signé avec le Sénégal pour l’échange de nouvelles et d’informations

Le ministre de l’Information du Sénégal, Bakar Dia, a signé aujourd’hui avec son homologue taiwanais, Pasuya Yao, un accord inaugurant une coopération étroite dans les échanges de nouvelles entre Taiwan et ce pays allié d’Afrique occidentale.

Le document paraphé à Taipei par les deux ministres au nom de leur gouvernement respectif prévoit également la production en collaboration de programmes télévisés et de radio dans divers domaines allant du sport à la culture, en passant par l’environnement ou encore l’éducation.

Par cet accord, les deux parties contractantes s’engagent à tout mettre en œuvre pour protéger les droits de propriété intellectuelle des œuvres et émissions échangés, pour faciliter la diffusion de l’information et pour assister les responsables des médias de l’autre partie à participer aux conférences et autres activités pertinentes.

Saluant l’attachement des dirigeants de

la République

de Chine à la liberté d’expression et la démocratie, Bakar Dia a déclaré que pour le Sénégal, « la liberté sous toutes ses formes est le meilleur gage du développement et de l’épanouissement des peuples ».

Il a ensuite souligné l’importance primordiale que le président sénégalais Abdoulaye Wade accorde aux secteurs de l’information et de la communication, expliquant par exemple qu’une tribune était ouverte tous les mardis dans son propre ministère pour débattre avec les experts et les journalistes des questions d’actualité.

De son côté, Pasuya Yao a insisté sur les traditions démocratiques du Sénégal et rappelé que la presse y joue un réel rôle de contre-pouvoir. Le ministre a aussi fait allusion aux programmes de coopération déjà en place avec cet allié dans les domaines de l’agriculture, de la médecine et des infrastructures entre autres.

Soulignant son respect pour la culture sénégalaise, Pasuya Yao a par ailleurs exprimé le souhait de voir des films de ce pays projetés dans les cinémas de l’île.
